I have never been someone who thought he could not concentrate for longer than three quarters of an hour. I love feature films over soaps and cannot abide soundbites.
Today though my powers of concentration have failed me and I will tell you why.
My 180gram half speed master of Porcupine Tree's, Fear Of a Blank Planet arrived from Poland!
I made a cup of Yorkshire tea and fired up the MF dual mono choke regulated amp, spun the rega RP1 and lowered the om5 stylus into the groove of side A.

What hit me straight away was aural brilliance.
How can I describe Steve Wilson's band except to say that just maybe he is McCartney incarnate for the 21st Century!
If The Beatles had never been; this album would have taken the place of Sergeant Pepper, it is sublime, passionate, powerful and incredibly moving.

I have a confession to make. After three sides of multi-layered superb excellence my brain was exhausted; not to mention myself; who had been fighting back tears of pure joy for nearly an hour.
If anyone was ever to tell me the day would come when I would spend £29:99 on a record I would have thought them truly deranged, but you knwo what?
Fear of a Blank Planet is worth every penny.
Go get a copy.
If you do not own a turntable BUY one.
Trust me you only live once and it's not about the destination.
It's about the quality of the journey, Porcupine Tree will make that journey nirvana.
Yuri.
